John Amos

Partner, Head of Rural

With almost five decades of experience, John is Partner and Head of Rural Services, based from the Leominster hub. 

John joined Bruton Knowles following the acquisition of John Amos & Co in 2021, bringing with him extensive experience as a qualified Agricultural Valuer and Chartered Surveyor. He plays a key role in the firm’s strategic development while remaining actively involved in professional work, including sales and letting of farms, land and smallholdings, Inheritance Tax planning and strategic farm advice.

John has headed up new initiatives nationally, including Renewables (solar and field scale battery) and Biodiversity Net Gain.

John has also featured on the Bruton Knowles Landmark Podcast, and is a well-regarded voice within the farming and agriculture community and regularly speaks and presents to large groups of farmers, landowners and professionals on rural related matters.

Ben Compton

Partner

Ben joined Bruton Knowles in 2012 and is based at the Gloucester hub. He provides expert rural property advice across key sectors, managing complex sales, purchases, and valuations for everything from small farmland blocks to large estates. 

Ben advises private, public, and institutional clients on sales, acquisitions, landlord and tenant matters, renewables, finance, stewardship schemes and grant claims. As a RICS Registered Valuer and Fellow of the CAAV, Ben provides valuation advice to private clients, charities and public bodies as well as all the major lenders. Coming from a farming background, he has a deep understanding of the industry and is committed to delivering honest, results-driven advice.

Charlotte Ibbs

Senior Associate

RICS Registered Valuer, Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers

Charlotte is a Senior Associate within the Rural Services Team, primarily based from the Leominster hub. Having joined Bruton Knowles in 2024, Charlotte is an integral part of the wide range of services the Team offers to its clients. 

A RICS Registered Valuer with a wealth of experience specialising in Farm and Estate Valuations for secured lending and tax purposes, Charlotte also has over 15 years of estate management experience.
